Located in Princeton, N.J., Eden Autism provides support for individuals with autism by offering a twelve-month school program for 3- to 21-year-olds, vocational training for adolescents and adults, residential services for adults, and numerous other resources.
Eden’s story begins in the mid-seventies, when autism was a relatively unknown disorder.
Frustrated by the limited services available through local schools, and determined to find an appropriate program for their children with autism, a group of parents joined forces with a renowned clinician in the Princeton area. Together, they formed Eden Institute as a day school in 1975.
As Eden developed, the group saw the need for adult services, and soon Eden expanded its mission — to improve the lives of children and adults with autism and their families by providing a range of community-based services to meet specific needs throughout the lifespan.
In a rented church basement, the founding families and staff worked to ensure individuals who attended Eden were provided with the highest quality services available. Their efforts paid off in 1980 when Eden opened its first residential group home. Then 1983, Eden established its adult employment program.
As Eden continued to expand, Vector Security was chosen to provide fire alarms for several group homes, along with custom egress systems and pull stations within each residence. Vector Security was selected for fire solutions at several of Eden’s Adult Day Program Centers as well.
Additionally, Vector Security provides access control systems for Eden. “We are especially impressed with the swipe out systems Vector customized for us to prevent elopement. These systems are essential to helping keep Eden residents within the home and out of harm’s way,” Josh Catalfamo, Facilities Management for Eden, explained.
Eden has partnered with Vector Security for more than 20 years now. “Our interactions with Vector have always been positive and productive. They are constantly willing to work with us with troubleshooting specific needs and challenges,” Josh added.
